Welcome to the British Council's Governance website. On these
pages we look at how decisions are made in public life. This
is the place to find news of relevant conferences and seminars
on topics as diverse as economics, finance and management,
justice, gender, equality and government. We also have a range
of publications that discuss the history and current practice
of the civil service, political parties, human rights and

John Carver's Policy Governance® model is the world's only
complete, universal theory of governance-a conceptually coherent
paradigm of principles and concepts (not of structure). The
model enables boards-as "servant-leaders" of shareholders,
public, members.
Centre d'études en gouvernance
Le Centre d'études en gouvernance est une unité interdisciplinaire
de recherche et d'enseignement créée pour étudier les patterns
changeants de coordination organisationnelle et sociale. Inauguré
au printemps 1998, ce Centre réunit des chercheurs provenant
de différentes facultés universitaires, ainsi qu'un certain
nombre de praticiens de haut niveau des secteurs privé, public
et civique.
Le Centre accueille la participation des praticiens d'autres
organisations et des d'institutions éducatives en dehors de
l'Université d'Ottawa. Notre dénominateur commun est un vif
intérêt pour l'étude de la gouvernance et le développement
d'outils visant à améliorer la gouvernance des organisations
privées, publiques et civiques aux échelons local, régional,
national et international.
Institute
on governance
The Institute On Governance (IOG) is a non-profit organization
with charitable status founded in 1990 to promote effective
governance. From our perspective, governance comprises the
traditions, institutions and processes that determine how
power is exercised, how citizens are given a voice, and how
decisions are made on issues of public concern.
